ELECTRICIAN’S GUIDE TO CONTROL AND MONITORING SYSTEMS

Electrical and electronic system control and monitoring is highly critical to many industries, such as the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, engineering, and automotive industries. Electricians in this field are required to constantly update their skill set to keep up with the expanding scope of work and changing technologies. To help these professionals meet the increasing demands, industry veteran Albert F. Cutter, Sr., has written Electrician’s Guide to Control and Monitoring Systems: Installation, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance (McGraw-Hill; May 2010; Original paperback: $34.95).

This practical guide walks its readers through the ladder diagrams and control devices of networked monitoring systems; and focuses on installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Ladder diagrams are broken down and rebuilt, making it easy to understand the symbols and language used in them. Hundreds of product photos and line drawings illustrate key details, and additional drawings are available online. Essential for electrical contractors, electricians, and maintenance workers, this on-the-job resource also contains information on networks used in the field.

“Albert Cutter has done an outstanding service for our industry by developing a hands-on reference and training tool in his new work, Electrician’s Guide to Control and Monitoring Systems,” writes Michael I. Callanan, executive director, National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC), in the foreword.

Electrician's Guide to Control and Monitoring Systems contains:
• Coverage of the 2008 National Electrical Code
• Detailed drawings and pictures convey details in a simple and understandable manner

-more-
• Step-by-step explanations of the drawings
• Presents information on networks used in the field and the requirements for proper installation
• Focus on installation and maintenance, not design
